No subscription, no ads and no in-app purchases. You buy the app in its store and it is yours, updates included.
One purchase in each store
The Android app is bought on Google Play and the Windows app on Microsoft Store, each with its own purchase. The price will be on each store listing when it is published.
If you use both, that is two purchases. There are no accounts and no server, so there is no way to recognise on Windows a purchase made on Google Play, or the other way round. It is the price of not knowing who you are.

Updates
They come from the store, like any other app’s.
Nothing to depend on
The app does not check the purchase online or on any server: it will not stop working because something, somewhere, is switched off.
Why there is no subscription
A subscription pays for something that keeps costing money every month: servers, storage, accounts. Cryptnook Vault has none of that. Your files are on your drive, not on our servers, because there are no servers.
And people looking for privacy tend to distrust, rightly, fees, accounts and ads. Paying once is simpler and more honest.
Refunds
Each store handles them under its own terms: on Google Play you can request one within the first 48 hours, and Microsoft Store has its own policy. Better not to need one: check first that your phone reads USB drives.
